Grow a Chicken Fighter Battle Charms and Promotions
Update 3 combat layer: eight slots, Charm Dust rolls, and stars from duplicate chickens.
Update 3 (August 29, 2026) added the combat layer that sits on top of Fusion: Chicken Promotions and Battle Charms. Official Discord #updates named both. HOTFIX 3.1 (September 1, 2026) repaired console Charm locks, promotion, renaming, and Rebirth milestone claiming. If a star or lock looked broken last week, try it again on 3.1 before you spend more Dust.
Charms are permanent stat rolls on a chicken. Promotions spend duplicate copies of that same chicken to raise stats and unlock more Charm slots. Neither system replaces Slot A / Slot B Fusion. You still lock Voodoo or Cycle of Ash first. Then you star and roll on the bird you actually send to the PIT, TOWER, or Arena.
Redeem BATTLEREADY on the codes page before you farm Dust the hard way. Majority lists give 100 Charm Dust, 1 Royal Egg, and 2x Hatch Luck for 15 minutes. A minority report listed 200 Dust. Trust the in-game toast.
How to unlock Battle Charms
Hands-on guides put the menu behind Rebirth 2. Open Flock, select the chicken, tap the + on the left, then ROLL CHARMS. Each roll costs 20 Charm Dust.
Each chicken has eight slots labeled I through VIII. Slot I is open at zero stars. Community slot map from promotion tests:
| Stars | Slots unlocked |
|---|---|
| 0 | I |
| 2 | II |
| 4 | III |
| 6 | IV |
| 8 | V and VI |
| 10 | VII and VIII |
Launch-day writeups also said a fighter can be promoted five times. The star map and the five-promotion cap do not perfectly match across sources. Read the stars under the name in your client. Do not assume slot VIII is free.
You can lock a slot once the roll is the stat you want. A lock stops that slot from rerolling. Each lock doubles Charm reroll cost. Locking four mediocre Commons will price you out of the Legendary you actually wanted. Lock high rarity first.
HOTFIX 3.1 removed the reroll warning on SR Charms and fixed console locking. Console players who could not lock before 3.1 should retry before buying extra Dust.
Charm rarities and stats
Community drop table from Update 3 hands-on:
| Rarity | Drop rate |
|---|---|
| Common | 49.8% |
| Uncommon | 26.9% |
| Rare | 17.9% |
| Super Rare | 4.3% |
| Legendary | 1.0% |
| Ascended | 0.1% |
Reported stat ceilings (same source):
- DEF 13.3%
- HP 13.3%
- CRIT% 11.1%
- CRIT RES 11.1%
- CRIT DMG 11.1%
- Ability Boost 8.9%
- Damage Reduction 8.9%
- Movement Speed Boost 8.9%
Roll what the bird needs. A TOWER boss killer wants CRIT and Ability Boost. A PIT streak bird wants HP / DEF / Damage Reduction so the streak does not snap. Movement Speed is for events and Arena positioning, not for idle PIT.
Charms are reported to carry across same-rarity Fusion. Confirm on the Fusion preview. If you are about to fuse the Charm-loaded copy, Favorite it first and read Fusion so auto-fuse or a misclick does not eat the stars.
How to promote
- Open Flock on the right.
- Select the chicken you want to star.
- Open the Promote tab.
- Feed duplicates of that same chicken.
- Confirm. A star appears under the name.
Promotions are why you keep extras of Ace Rooster, Eclipse Hen, and Baron Cluck instead of fusing every spare into a random mutant. A duplicate of a Secret is often worth more as a star than as a bad Fusion donor.
HOTFIX 3.1 repaired promotion itself. If a star did not apply on August 30, try the same copies again.
Favorite (also Update 3) protects a chicken from selection. Favorite the Charm-loaded carry before you mass-select for Promote or Fuse.
Trick Egg and the twelve new chickens
Update 3 shipped the Trick Egg and twelve new birds.
Trick Egg is laid by Catalyst Hen (Secret, under 1% from Colossus Egg) at about 2% per lay; the rest of that lay is Colossus. Ace Rooster later lays Trick Egg at a much higher rate (community ~40%) once you own one. Domino Chick (~10% Trick lay) is a weaker backup.
Trick Egg hatch pool (community):
- Domino Chick — Rare
- Checkmate Hen — Epic
- Puzzle Hen — Legendary
- High Roller Rooster — Cosmic
- Ace Rooster — Secret (under 1%)
Ace Rooster is S+ on the current tier list for raw attack. Do not incubate your only copy. Park extras in the Incubator only after the PIT bird is Favorited.
Blessed Egg and Demonic Egg showed during the late-August admin-abuse window (Golden Feathers / Kraken Eggs). Pools: Beacon Rooster / Mercy Hen / Angel Chicken on Blessed; Hex Rooster / Pact Hen / Devil Chicken on Demonic. Those are event-sourced, not standing coop layers. Angel Chicken is the Arena-facing S+ in the current meta. Do not plan a weekly farm around an admin weekend unless Discord has one live.
What to spend Dust on first
- Redeem BATTLEREADY.
- Promote the bird you actually fight with, not a random Common.
- Roll slot I. Lock only if the rarity is Rare or better and the stat matches the job (PIT tank vs TOWER crit).
- Do not lock four Commons. Cost doubles each lock.
- After Rebirth, confirm HOTFIX 3.1 let you claim milestone rewards, then keep rolling on the same Favorited carry.
Shop Auto Rebirth (Update 3) can reset you while a Charm session is mid-roll. Turn it off before you dump Dust. Pair this page with Rebirth so a prestige does not land on an unlocked Legendary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, fusion, eggs, and Tower climbs.
When do Battle Charms unlock?
Hands-on guides say Rebirth 2. Open Flock, select a chicken, tap +, then ROLL CHARMS for 20 Charm Dust.
How many Charm slots does a chicken have?
Eight (I–VIII). Slot I starts unlocked. Higher slots come from promotion stars. Confirm the star map in your client.
Does locking a Charm raise reroll cost?
Yes. Each lock doubles Charm reroll cost. Lock high rarity on the fight bird, not every Common.
How do I get Ace Rooster?
Trick Egg. Catalyst Hen lays Trick Egg rarely; Ace Rooster is the Secret in that pool. Colossus Egg is the Catalyst Hen hunt.
What did HOTFIX 3.1 change?
Console Charm locking, promotion, renaming, Rebirth milestone claiming, Friends Boost, Arena skip UI, and the SR reroll warning.
Should I Charm a layer in the Incubator?
No. Spend Dust on the PIT / TOWER / Arena carry. Layers belong in the Incubator without combat rolls.
